The most interesting part of the mosque is its monumental Crown Door. It is a monument on its own and there are a let of figures on it. The mosque recieved its name because oil used to be sold nearby.

1501 yılında Ermeni Saint Jacgues Kilisesi’nin Ramazanoğlu Halil Bey’in emri ile camiye çevrilmiştir. Anıtsal avlu kapısının önünde yağ pazarı kurulması nedeniyle, “Yağ Camii” adını almıştır.
