People's Friendship Arch

The People’s Friendship Arch (Ukrainian: Арка Дружби Народів, Arka Druzhbi Narodiv, literally 'friendship arch') dedicated to the unification of Russia and Ukraine, was constructed in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. Also known among Kievans as Peoples' yoke.

The Friendship Arch was constructed in 1982 by sculptor A. Skoblikov and architect I. Ivanov and others. It is a huge, 50 m (164 ft) in diameter, rainbow-shaped arch, made of titanium.

Underneath the Friendship Arch there are two statues: one which is made of bronze and depicts a Russian and Ukrainian worker holding up the Soviet Order of Friendship of Peoples and the other is made from granite and depicts the participants of the Pereyaslav Council of 1654.

There is a viewing deck there where most of the east bank can be viewed, Troeschina and towards the north of the city, Podil and Obolon[].

Nice overview of the city looking towards the Dnieper River. There are statues about friendship between Ukrainians and Russians from the Soviet era. There's also a kitsch bumper car station.

The place was dedicated tot the friendship in the USSR between different nations. Currently it is being neglected by Russia so not that important anymore but the overlook has nice views

The arch has a big crack on the top, not a good sign. I know it’s just the paint but as a symbol it says something.

There is a zip line to the other side of the river behind the arch.
