Jenkins Arboretum

Jenkins Arboretum (46 acres) is a nonprofit arboretum located at 631 Berwyn Baptist Road, Devon, Pennsylvania. It is open to the public daily from sunrise to sunset with free admission.

The arboretum was established by H. Lawrence and Elisabeth Phillippe Jenkins, whose estate designated that their property become a "public park, arboretum, and wildlife sanctuary for use by the public and responsible organizations engaged in the study of arboriculture, horticulture, and wildlife for educational and scientific purposes..." In 1971 Mrs. Louisa P. Browning donated 26 acres (110,000 m2) of adjoining property to the arboretum, more than doubling its size. The arboretum first opened to the public in 1976.

The arboretum features native trees, shrubs, rhododendrons, azaleas, mountain laurel, blueberries, ferns, and wildflowers. A particular focus of the collection are its rhododendron varieties from all over the world. The site also supports many varieties of wildlife including foxes, flying squirrels, turtles, Belted Kingfishers, Green Herons, Red-tailed Hawks, owls, and over 90 other identified bird species.

The world's foremost azalea collection is in full bloom around mother's day. But any day is amazing at Jenkins.
