Horseshoe Bend (Arizona)

Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped incised meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the United States.

Horseshoe Bend is located 5 miles (8.0 km) downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, about 4 miles (6.4 km) southwest of Page.

It is accessible via hiking a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) round trip from U.S. Route 89, but an access road also reaches the geological structure, as it is part of a state park. Horseshoe Bend can be viewed from the steep cliff above.

The overlook is 4,200 feet (1,300 m) above sea level, and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet (980 m) above sea level, making it a 1,000-foot (300 m) drop.

The rock walls of Horseshoe Bend contain a variety of minerals, among which are hematite, platinum and garnet.

Beautiful overlook. It’s just very scary, especially because people get way too close to the edge and it was extremely windy when we went! The views are incredible. Worth the small hike.

The trail to the bend is easy, the view from up there is magnificent - you're looking down 1,000 ft ???? Located just outside Page, AZ, this place can't be missed if you're staying in Page. ✌????️ #lovely

the view at the end of the trail is breathtaking. the best part is, you don't see a thing until you get to the edge of the canyon. Amazing view - worth it all!! a great place to take panoramic photos.

Must take photo lookout area when you’re in the GC rim. Beautiful view! Be careful when climbing on the cliffs!

Short walk off the highway; the view is breathtaking. Grab some water, the heat is punishing. Also a selfie stick so you can grab pictures from higher up that will give you a fuller view of the bend.

Beautiful view at the eastbound of the grand Canyon in Page. Very little railing hence refrain from crazy selfies. Entrance 10$ per car, totally worth it.
