The Highlight Towers are two office towers completed in 2004 in Munich, which are considered exemplary for new architecture in this city.
You are on the Highlight Munich Business Towers site in Munich at the corner of Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius Street at Munich gateway between the Middle Ring and the Bundesautobahn 9 in Schwabing. They are slightly shifted in the historic sightline of Odeonsplatz on Ludwig Road with Victory Gate to the north - including what became of former mayor George Kronawitter harshly criticized - and form a focal point for visitors coming from the north of the city.
Two bridges made of glass and steel combine to offer the two planned by architects Murphy/Jahn of Chicago, USA, with towers 126 meters/413 feet (Highlight Tower 1) and 113 meters/371 feet (Highlight Tower 2) height, office space on 33 and 28 storeys, and thus are among the highest buildings in Munich. To divide the high-rise buildings, two low-rise buildings, which house a hotel and additional office space. Overall, the facility offers over 70,000 square metres of office space.
The smooth glass facades of the buildings appear to be light and transparent and provide a good exposure of the office space. Openable window structures with wind and Schalldämmelementen allow employees in the towers of an individual ventilation and are part of an environmentally friendly air-conditioning and ventilation system.
The open space planning is from Professor Rainer Schmidt, Munich, builders were the KanAm Group, Munich and Aareal Bank, Wiesbaden.
The best known tenants of the buildings are the consulting firm Roland Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in the Tower 1 and the IT companies, Fujitsu Technology Solutions, and IP companies that Fish & Richardson in the smaller Tower 2.
