Dudhsagar Falls

Dudhsagar Falls (literally meaning The Sea of Milk) is a tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River in the state of Goa, India, on Goa's border with the state of Karnataka. It is 60 km from Panaji.

The waterfall

The falls lie high up in the Mandovi River's watershed and so are not particularly spectacular during the dry season. During the monsoon season however, the falls are transformed into one of the most powerful falls in India. Dudhsagar Falls is listed as India's 5th tallest waterfall, and is 227th in the world at 310 m.

The water plummets hundreds of feet in large volumes during the monsoon season, forming one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in Goa. It is a major part of the Goa ecosystem. This is a four tiered waterfall with a total height of 310 meters (1017 feet) and an average width of 30 meters (100 feet).

Transport

The waterfall is accessible by train and rough road. It is 10 kilometers from Kulem Railway Station (Indian Railway station code QLM).

It is very busy here. You are not supposed to feed the monkeys here as it is a sanctuary but a lot people still feed them so the monkeys will approach you for food. The waterfalls are beautiful.

Be sure to go via collem and buy life jackets if you intend to swim. If you descend from the dudhsagar railway station you'll have to go back 11 km to get one.

Except from the waterfall there is nothing here. be it shops or eateries. The best way to get here is either by train from castle rock station at 9:30 or 5:30 OR by trekking on the railway track 15kms

Если в самом начале вам не удалось покормить обезьянок, не отчаивайтесь - около самого водопада их очень много и все хотят кушать (с утра)))
