The Bar Aqueduct is an stone bridge, located on the northern side of the Old Town of Bar (4 km north from the city center Bar), Montenegro. The Bar Aqueduct is the only aqueduct in Montenegro, and one of three largest and well preserved aqueduct in the former Yugoslavia along Diocletianus Aqueduct near Split, Croatia and Skopje Aqueduct Republic of Macedonia.
Aqueduct was constructed similar to a bridge, during the reign of Ottoman Empire, 16th century - 17th century and it served for water supply from the 3 km far spring in Mount Rumija to the Old Town Bar. The structure of aqueduct, consists 17 larger arches of different spans, which are supported by 17 massive pillars. The water channel is formed on the upper surface of the aqueduct, where jointly connected stoneware pipes are placed, 12 cm in diameter and 30 cm long. Entire building is made of broken and roughly hewn stone.
After the devastating Montenegro earthquake in 1979 on April 15, at 06:19, the aqueduct was completely destroyed.</br> Later on was completely renovated, so it can even be used today.
