Ashgabat Fountain

The Ashgabat Fountain in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan contains the world's greatest number of fountain pools in a public place. This is one of the main symbols of the city. The fountain is located on the road leading from Ashgabat Airport to the center of the capital. It was built by Turkish company Polimeks in 2008. Fountain complex lighting system works by using solar energy.

This complex includes 27 synchronized, lighted and fully programmable fountains total area of about 15 hectares.

Architectural and sculptural ensemble of the fountain depicts the legendary ancestor of the Turkic peoples of Oguz Khan and his six sons: Gün Khan (lord of the sun), Ay Khan (lord of Moon), Yildiz Khan (lord of stars), Gök Khan (lord of heaven), Dag Khan (ruler of the mountains) and Deniz Khan (ruler of the sea). In the creation of monuments, creative team worked under the direction of People's Artist of Turkmenistan Babasary Annamuradov. According to the authors of the sculpture, it symbolizes the peacefulness of the Turkmen people, their unbreakable unity and cohesion and, at the same creative spirit and power of modern Turkmenistan.
