This is the entrance to the citadel in Aleppo, which along with Damascus and Sana'a is the city with the longest history of continuous habitation in the world. The citadel we now see was built around 1214, although the archaeological digs within the walls show ruins and remains from 9th century BC, almost 3,000 years ago.
