The Campo Santo is a very impressive Gothic cloister and cemetery dating back to the thirteenth century (but not completed before the fifteenth century). It is situated just north of the Cathedral Square in Pisa, where one also finds the famous Leaning Tower. The Campo Santo houses a large collection of sarcophagi, statues, and frescoes (unfortunately, a fire during World War II destroyed or damaged most of the frescoes).
