Another chambered cairn, this time an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuween_Hill_Chambered_Cairn" rel="nofollow">unsung one</a> which contained, bizarrely, lots of dog skulls along with the human remains. We didn't go in - the torch provided in a nearby box wasn't working - but I don't think I'd really have wanted to anyway. I'm not usually claustrophobic, but I seem to make a bit of an exception for burial chambers...
Cuween Hill Chambered Cairn (grid reference ) is a Neolithic chambered cairn on Mainland, the main island of Orkney, Scotland, about 6 miles west of Kirkwall. It dates to around 3,000 BCE, and is similar in design to Maeshowe, but on a smaller scale.... Read further
