My eight favorite of the year was also taken in Paris. this one at the Sainte-Chapelle. It's often regarded as the highest expression of it's type of Gothic architecture, and since it was commissioned by King Louis IX of France to house his collection of Passion Relics, no effort was spared in constructing something of the utmost grandeur.
And boy oh boy does it show when you're there - with the sunlight shining through these millions of pieces of hand stained glass, bouncing of the countless golden chandeliers and ornements .. it's truly a unique experience.
I also have fond memories of this image since it was the first time I used photoshop to clean up a tiny imperfection - as in a pretty decent part of the left wall being covered by construction, and that certainly wouldn't do for this image - I think it cleaned up pretty well and it taught me a lot about what's possible!
