Even the lightest footsteps echoed and boomed inside this temple carved into the hillside. Kanheri caves at Sanjay Gandhi National Park outside Mumbai. There are over 100 caves caved into the basalt hillside. They range in size from small dwellings to large temples and classrooms. They are adorned with Buddhist sculptures carved into the walls. The sculptures date from 2000 to 1000 years before present.
