Luxembourg is a small country found in the western European continent. It has an area of 2,586 square km and a population of over 600,000 people.

Luxembourg boasts of an impressive history that dates back to the ninth century when it was part of the Roman Empire. In 963, Luxembourg gained its independence as a duchy and remained a German-dominated state until 1815 when it became part of the Netherlands. Later, in 1919, Luxembourg finally declared its independence again and has since been a prosperous and stable nation.

The largest and most popular cities in Luxembourg are the country's capital, Luxembourg City, and Esch-sur-Sûre, which is located near the border with Belgium. Luxembourg City is home to landmarks such as Grand Ducal Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and Place d’Armes. Here tourists can visit museums like the National Museum of History and Art and explore historic streets out. Esch-sur-Sûre also offers many great tourist attractions such as the Esch Castle ruins and the ancient ruins at Remirmationseiche hill.

For nature enthusiasts, Luxembourg’s Upper Sure Reserve is a must-see. This vast nature reserve covers almost 30% of the entire country and takes up nearly 880 square km of land featuring gentle hills, forests, meadows and rivers. Here you can go hiking and walking alongside different species of animals like foxes, wildcats and badgers.

Luxembourg offers plenty of other things to do for travellers looking for exciting experiences. The Moselle river valley features stunning landscape views along winding roads leading to magnificent vineyards where you can spend time wine-tasting or exploring medieval castles. Other attractions include visiting the world's largest railway viaduct at Vianden, journeying on legendary steam locomotives through spectacular scenery and exploring prehistoric artefacts in fascinating archaeological sites.

In terms of cuisine, Luxembourg is known for its hearty dishes such as steamed peas with bacon strips, pork knuckle in apple sauce, Gromperkeescher (potato pancakes) topped with chopped onions and Judd mat Gaardebounen (smoked neck of pork with broad beans). Sweet treats like Péches Melba (peach ice cream) or yoghurt cake are also very popular amongst visitors!

Luxembourg is sure to please visitors who come seeking breathtaking landscapes, rich culture and flavoursome cuisine.
