Jersey is a small but beautiful Channel Island located in the English Channel between England and France. With its stunning countryside, picturesque harbour towns, and varied community of people, Jersey truly has something to offer every traveller.

History

Excavation evidence suggests that people have called Jersey home since ancient times, but it was the Vikings who first settled here around 900 AD. Jersey is an independent island under the Crown's protection of the UK, and has since held its own distinct culture and language through the centuries.

Cities

The two biggest islands are St Helier, the capital city of Jersey, located on the east of the main island and St Aubin, located on the south coast. Both are famous for their beachfront scenery and restaurants. Around 70km away from St Helier lies the smaller island of Sark. Renowned for its natural beauty and cliff coastline with panoramic views, Sark is one of Europe’s last medieval feudal states and a haven for lovers of nature and outdoor activities.

Tourist Destinations

There are many wonderful attractions within Jersey to explore! One popular destination is La Houguette Park in St Helier, where you can experience a taste of local culture with live concerts or simply take in the view of beautiful Elizabeth Castle. You can also find living history experiences at Mont Orgueil Castle or exploring stateside Greve de Lecq Barracks. Other not-to-be-missed tourist destinations include Bouley Bay Farm Trail, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, Anne Port Nature Reserve, Jersey War Tunnels and Jersey Arts Centre.

Things To Do

When you're in Jersey there are plenty of activities to choose from! Whether you’re looking for something outdoorsy or indoor fun, there’s plenty for everyone. Outdoor offerings include thrilling watersports like surfing, kayaking and sailing as well as rock climbing and walking adventures along gorgeous coastal paths like La Grande Mare to Bouley Bay. In addition to this, you can explore your artistic side with pottery painting or glass engraving workshops, take cooking classes or learn about wildlife conservation at one of Jersey’s brilliant wildlife trusts.

No matter what kind of holiday you’re looking for, you’ll be sure to find it in Jersey! From historical landmarks to exciting tourist destinations as well as idyllic countryside locations and breathtaking watersport activities, welcome to your getaway paradise!
