Gibraltar is a small British overseas territory located on the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, bordering Spain. It has an area of only 6.8 sq km and a population of 33,000 people. Gibraltar is renowned for its distinctive limestone Rock that provides a dramatic backdrop to the capital, also named Gibraltar.

The history of Gibraltar dates back more than 14,000 years, with archaeological evidence indicating that it has been occupied for millennia by various civilizations - including the Phoenicians, Romans and Visigoths. For centuries it was an important strategic base for the British military.

Gibraltar's main city is the capital itself - Gibraltar, which is home to many historical landmarks such as the Great Siege Tunnels, Moorish Castle and St. Michael's Cave. Other towns in Gibraltar include La Linea de la Concepción and San Roque. Tourism is a key industry in Gibraltar, with attractions including the stunning coastline, Mediterranean-style beaches and luxury yachting marinas. There are also numerous casinos, nightclubs and restaurants to occupy your time.

The climate in Gibraltar is mild and pleasant year-round but during the summer months (June to August) temperatures can soar above 30°c. The best time to visit would be during spring (April to May) when temperatures are still comfortable yet rainfall is much lower than in winter months.

In terms of local cuisine, restaurants in Gibraltar tend to serve Mediterranean fares such as Spanish tapas, Italian pizzas and fresh seafood dishes. There are numerous eateries in the city, including some piping hot street food vendors along Main Street.

The currency used in Gibraltar is the British Pound Sterling (£). Prices may not be prohibitively high compared to other European destinations, but they remain higher than nearby Spain due to the strong pound exchange rate.

The official language in Gibraltar is English although Spanish is also widely spoken by locals.
