Mount Sodom (Arabic: جبل السدوم, Jabal (u)'ssudūm; Hebrew: הר סדום, Har Sedom) is a hill along the southwestern part of the Dead Sea in Israel. It is most remarkable because it is made almost entirely of halite, or rock salt. Lot's Wife is a geological formation overlooking the Dead Sea, a pillar of halite on Mount Sodom in Israel. Due to its supposed resemblance to a woman wearing a cloak, it has traditionally been touted as the remains of Lot's wife.
