Vârtopu is the village in Romania, located some 30 km to the north-east from Majdanpek, 30 km north-east of Serbia border. The capital city Bucharest is in 420 km to the east. The population of Vârtopu is about 140 people (census of 2013). Vârtopu is a popular tourist destination thanks to its archaeological sites.

It is served by Caransebes (IATA: CSB) airport, which is 130 km away.
