Tirana is the capital and the largest city in
Albania situated some 20 km south-east of
Kamzë, 120 km north-west of Albania -
Macedonia border. According to the latest census, the population of Tirana is about 374,900 people. Thousands of tourists visit Tirana every year to see its museums and mosques.

The National Historical Museum (Muzeu Historik Kombetar) in Tirana is Albania's largest museum. It was founded in 28th october 1981. The building of the museum required the demolition of the former Tirana Municipal Building. The gigantic mosaic appearing at the main entrance is entitled The Albanians.
