López is the small settlement in Ecuador, located some 90 km to the south from Manta. The capital city Quito is in 390 km to the north-east. The population of López is 90 people (as of 2012). People mostly visit it to see its national parks.

It is served by Reales Tamarindos (IATA: PVO) airport, which is 90 km away.

1. Machalilla culture
The Machalilla were a prehistoric people in Ecuador, in southern Manabí and the Santa Elena Peninsula. The dates when the culture thrived are uncertain, but are generally agreed to encompass 1500 BCE to 1100 BCE.

2. Machalilla National Park
Machalilla National Park is a preserve in the Ecuadorian Manabí Province near Puerto López and the rural parish of Machalilla, a small fishing village in the vicinity of the park.
