Kolkata (कोलकाता) is the fourth largest city in India, located some 10 km to the south-east from Howrah, 100 km south-west of Bangladesh border. The capital city New Delhi is in 1,700 km to the north-west. The population of Kolkata is about 4,631,400 people (census of 2015). Kolkata is a popular tourist destination thanks to its monuments and memorials and forts.

It is served by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Intl (IATA: CCU) airport, which is 20 km away.

1. Victoria Memorial (India)
The Victoria Memorial, located in Kolkata, India is a memorial of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom who also carried the title of Empress of India. It currently serves as a museum and a tourist attraction.

2. Fort William (India)
Fort William is a fort built in Calcutta on the Eastern banks of the River Hooghly, the major distributary of the River Ganges, during the early years of the Bengal Presidency of British India. It was named after King William III of England. In front of the Fort is the Maidan, which used to be a part of the Fort and is the largest urban park in Calcutta.

3. Kolkata Gate
Kolkata Gate (officially known as Biswa Bangla Gate) is an arch-monument in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is built by Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) on the Biswa Bangla Sarani) at Narkelbagan, Action Area - I of New Town. It also houses a restaurant. The visitors' gallery and restaurant are surrounded by glass, which will be part of the wall. From here, one can see a lot of parts of New Town, Bidhannagar, Rajarhat and Kolkata.

4. Tipu Sultan Mosque
The Tipu Sultan Shahi Mosque is a famous mosque in Kolkata, located at 185 Dhartamtalla Street, Kolkata, India. The mosque is a wonderful, cultural heritage building. People from all sections of society and religions are allowed to visit the mosque and take pictures of this historical piece of architecture.
