Berat (Berati) is the tenth largest city in Albania, located some 20 km to the south-east from Kuçova, 120 km south-west of Macedonia border. The capital city Tirana is in 100 km to the north-west. This the town has a population of 46,900 people. Many people visit Berat to experience its castles and ruins.

The White Mosque (Albanian: Xhamia e Bardhë or Ak Mesxhid), also known as Sultan Bayezid II. Mosque, is a ruined mosque in Berat Castle, Berat, Albania. From the small, roughly square mosque there are still about a meter high foundation walls and the base of the minaret, a little over two meters high. It was built with white limestone in 1417, and was destroyed sometime in the 19th century after a local uprising against the Ottoman Empire's Tanzimat reforms.

7. Cathedral of Dormition of St. Mary (Berat)
The Dormition Cathedral (Albanian: Katedralja Fjetja e Shën Mërisë) is an Albanian Orthodox church in the Berat Castle in Berat, Albania, dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos. It is a Cultural Monument of Albania since 1948. Since 1986, the Onufri Museum of Icons is located in the church.
