Akureyri is the fourth largest city in Iceland, located some 330 km to the north-east from Kópavogur. The capital city Reykjavik is in 330 km to the south-west. The population is about 17,700 people in accordance with the 2011 census. Many people visit Akureyri each year to take a look at its famous botanical gardens and lutheran churches.

1. Akureyri Botanical Garden
The Akureyri Botanical Garden (Lystigarður Akureyrar) is located at Coordinates: and positioned on the west side of the inland end of the fjord Eyjafjörður at about 45 metres elevation. It is located in the southern part of the city of Akureyri in Northern Iceland, 50 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle. It is remarkable for its extreme location.

Akureyrarkirkja or The Church of Akureyri is a prominent Lutheran church in Akureyri, northern Iceland. Located in the centre of the city, and towering above the city on a hill, it was designed by Guðjón Samúelsson, and completed in 1940.

3. Akureyri Art Museum
The Akureyri Art Museum (Icelandic: Listasafnið á Akureyri) was founded in 1993. The museum is located in the center of Akureyri, the second-largest city in Iceland. Originally home to a dairy, the building which houses the gallery is noted as a good example of the Bauhaus school of architecture.

4. Ráðhústorg
Ráðhústorg is a tourist attraction, one of the Parks in Akureyri, Iceland. It is located: 750 km from Reykjavik, 760 km from Kópavogur, 770 km from Hafnarfjörður.

5. Súlur
Súlur is a mountain located to the south west of the town Akureyri in Iceland rising some 1213 meters. It is popular for hiking tours.
