Mostar is the fifth largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located some 130 km to the south from Zenica, 110 km north-west of Croatia border. The capital city Sarajevo is in 100 km to the north-east. The population of Mostar is about 104,600 people (census of 2009). Mostar is a popular tourist destination thanks to its arch bridges and roman catholic churches.

The National Theatre Mostar (Bosnian: Narodno pozorište Mostar) is the largest public theatre in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where performances are held, as well as other arts events. It was officially founded on 28 November 1949 and the opening play was Matej Bora's Night at the Globoko (Odrpanci), directed by Safet Pašalić.
